Bradley Sinanan (he/they) is a designer and artist born and raised in Broward County, South Florida where he began designing as a teen teaching himself Photoshop to make Tumblr fandom gifs. He is currently based in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he is an Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University teaching in the Graphic Design department. Previously, he was a Graphic Designer at Norwegian Cruise Line in Miami, FL and a Senior Art Director at Patients & Purpose in New York, NY.

He’s worked in advertising and marketing for global brands and for cultural and educational institutions across a range of media. Previous clients include: The City of Coral Gables (Miami, FL), Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA), The Anderson Gallery (Richmond, VA), Pfizer (New York, NY) and Norwegian Cruise Line (Miami, FL).

His research-based studio practice encompasses performance, video, publication, sound, and interactive screen-based work to explore the role graphic design plays in manufacturing and fixing identities and otherness. He looks at everyday design objects such as documents, interfaces, and grid systems as an extension of the gaze and control — whether that be in relationship to the afterlives of Indo-Caribbean indenture or cruising on dating apps and in queer nightlife. He applies friction when speed is demanded — slowing down the slickness of bureaucracy, tech, and commerce to reveal something strange, poetic, and living.

He has exhibited at The Anderson Gallery (Richmond, VA) and Visible Records (Charlottesville, VA). His self-initiated publications have been featured at Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair, the Jersey Art Book Fair, and Sprint Milano. He holds an M.F.A. in Visual Communications, Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Central Florida.
